Again!!!!! This protest has twists and turns at every juncture. The one thing I was certain of today - absolutely CERTAIN - was that the 8:30 meeting with the permit folks at the Hoover Building would garner us a renewal for the weekend. WOW, WAS I WRONG! We didn't even have the opportunity to fill out the request for a renewal. The five mid-level bureaucrats marched into conference room 8, which was packed with 13 of our activists, fifteen minutes late and with a pre-scripted agenda. With a very direct approach and passing the buck as much as humanly possible, their spokesman proceeded to inform us that our permit for occupation of the far west side of the capitol grounds had been revoked - though we could reapply for consideration on Monday morning at nine (today is Friday). ASTOUNDED - that's the only word I can use for this development. It's as though they were delivering a speech directly from high dollar political donors and corporate entities. I'm pretty sure I could actually see a hand up each of their asses and as their mouths moved so did the fingers of Governor Branstad, BofA, Chevron, Wells Fargo and the Koch Brothers.
I am in a mad rush to get back to the encampment right now. I had to come home and pick up the babies so the husband to go to his shitty, shitty job - and now we are heading back to regroup and plan our next step.
FREAK! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS DEVELOPMENT! WHAT NEXT? WILL THE NATIONAL GUARD BE CALLED OUT TO SPRAY US ALL DOWN WITH WATER CANNONS RIGHT BEFORE THEY CART OUR ASSES OFF TO JAIL AGAIN? FREAK, FREAK, FREAK!!
